My Glenfield 30A with the short mag tube and end capped forearm is the most accurate of my four Marlin made 30-30s! I replaced the stamped dear head birch stocks (which I still have) with some new Walnut checkered stocks I got off of ebay! Now it looks like a 336sc (sporting carbine). Mr Brophy's book on Marlins says that they were made from 1964 to 1970 with the half mag. The early ones were marked as the 36G and the rest as Glenfield model 30. He says that 5,930 Model 36G were produced in 1964-65.
