The Model 39 is designed to not hurt it's self when dry fired. However, we are talking about beating on those parts with a hammer. Literally. Had to do it myself . Take the bolt out . Easy to do just remove the the pivot screw for the lever with the lever opened up half way . Then slide the lever straight down out of the receiver . The firing pin floats in the bolt and depending on how clean the channel is that the pin rides in it will sometimes keep the firing pin from moving freely.
