Nissan altima shifter locked.
I have a 2003 Altima 2.5 SL (Automatic). When i went to get in my car, my shift knob locked up and couldn't shift out of park to reverse. I removed the shift lock cap and used a screw driver to press the release mechanism which temporarily allowed my to move the knob but i would like to what the problem is and why is this doing this.

Apparently, dealership knows this part is easily lost, especially when vacuuming car. I made this a tight fit and a thicker base so it would not be so easily lost. The white wire on pin 9 at the shifter should be hot at all times, and the control unit takes the Red/White wire on pin 10 to ground in order to activate it.
